The Hunter Valley region is considered as one of the biggest river valleys which is located on the New South Wales Coast. The region is famous for its numerous wineries which are known for producing wines which are popular all around the world.

There are plenty of things for the tourists to do at the valley, besides natural attractions and wineries; the valley hosts numerous events which are famous all over the country.

One such event which has become extremely popular is the Paterson Kona 24 Mountain Endurance ride which started in the year 2011. The first year of the race was very successful and people are expecting that the race in 2012 would be even better. The race will be held on 19th May 2012 and is expected to be a full house.

In order to maintain the quality of the race, the organizers have this year limited the total number of participation to just 500 riders. The event this year is also opened for solo competitors and has been organized in a way which ensures calmness and a friendly atmosphere.

The race is organized and managed by the Broughton Beef Syndicate together with the Paterson community and the Hunter Mountain Bike Club. The syndicate is a group of local beef cattle producers which co-ordinate their activity to raise funds for the Anglican Parish of Gresford Paterson. The event is conducted on a private trail which is around 2 kilometers from the Paterson town in the Hunter Valley region.

Just like the previous year, the race this year would primarily focus on the 24 hour race. Besides that a new six plus six race is also be included and is open for solo competitors only.

In the six plus six race, competitors would be allowed to enjoy the atmosphere for approximately 12 hours before they resume the race next morning at 6AM. The six plus six race is available only for riders who are 12-16 years of age.

The race this year has added a lot of new features in order to make the race more exciting and thrilling. A network of single tracks and camping arrangements has been made in order to add more excitement.

The organizers expect that the riders have to do a significant amount of climbing as the race is set against a beautiful hillside. With steep climbing and rolling descending the riders are also very excited and are waiting for the race eagerly. The entire race lap would be a single loop of around 12 kilometers and the track would be marked with arrows, bunting and barriers in order to assist the riders with the race course.

The organizers have also taken a great care for the riders and the public by providing various amenities like clean toilets, food stalls, showers and various other things. Besides the above there is also a café, pubs and a mower shop. All these facilities are located at a walking distance from the main event center. Arrangements for running water have also been made but people should carry their own water bottles for their own convenience.

Just like the last year, the Paterson rotary club will again provide food items like burgers, soft drinks, chips and lots of other things for the general public.

The Paterson race has now become a popular event in the hunter valley region. Organizers of the event are expecting a large crowd and it is therefore advisable for the public to book their Hunter Valley accommodation well in advance in order to avoid last minute panic.

Besides the race, tourists can also visit other important and beautiful locations in the Hunter Valley region. Places like Singleton and Wollombi are popular tourist locations and should not be missed.
